Mafia

Secret roles, suspicion and voting: the mafia tries to fool the town before being exposed.

Mafia

Description

Mafia is a social deduction game for groups. Each player receives a secret role, and nobody knows for sure who is telling the truth. The town needs to expose the mafiosi; the mafia needs to mislead, survive, and eliminate the town.

The match is played through WhatsApp, with private messages for secret actions and public messages for debate, voting, and results. It is designed for friends, family, or any group that wants a game of suspicion, strategy, and deception.

Rules and mechanics

  • The host creates a room and players join through WhatsApp. When the match starts, the bot assigns secret roles and gives each participant a fixed player number.
  • The match alternates between night and day. At night, special roles act: the mafia chooses a victim, the doctor can protect someone, and the detective can investigate.
  • During the day, the game reports what happened overnight. Players debate, accuse, defend themselves, and try to spot contradictions.
  • After the debate, living players vote on who to eliminate. If there is a tie, a second vote can happen only between the tied players. If the tie remains, the day ends with no elimination.
  • Eliminated players’ roles are not revealed when they die. The secret stays hidden until the end so suspicion remains throughout the match.
  • The town wins if all mafiosi are eliminated. The mafia wins if it equals or outnumbers the living non-mafia players.
  • Dead players can no longer vote or perform actions, but they keep receiving the public messages from the match.
